LICHTPHON is the sound- and video art project of Schahram Poursoudmand.

Silhouettes *Iconique* is the first part of the LICHTPHON Cycle Trilogy „IKONEN“ and shows loneliness, vulnerability, drama and poetry in devoted yearning and hope for deliverance. In a feverish intoxication, a timeless, unreal dream-state of a young woman arises, freezing in her loneliness and resignation and hallucinating with inner passion visions of freedom and her own salvation.

Focus on the moment

In Silhouettes *Iconique*, this moment becomes eternal. Emotions, time and space are compressed, condensed and overcome. The state and expression is frozen in a temporally closed cycle, extended in motion, and frozen in an endless recurring form. The end becomes a beginning. The transience is dissolved and a transformation takes place. Silhouettes *Iconique* transforms the moment.
Suffering becomes strength and gives birth to an icon that becomes devoted and blissful with the acceptance of immortality.

In the artistic work on the experimental manipulation of the dissolution and deformation of image- and sound material in itself, on the effect of immortality by the factor repetition, the change of perception through temporal and substantial forming, equalization and decomposition to shapelessness arise surreal unrealities, new existences, bizarre sound sculptures and abstract moving pictures.

The visual basis of Silhouettes *Iconique* refers to a fragment of the silent film „La petite marchande d'allumettes“ by Jean Renoir from 1928 after the fairy tale „Das kleine Maedchen mit den Schwefelhoelzern“ by Hans Christian Andersen (1845).
