Description
Melt is a kinetic surface designed to undergo distortions in function of the weight, position and actions of the visitors.

Melt consists of 50 nautical aluminum polished plates, aligned with and connected to one-another by a system of linear bearings. Each plate is 3 meters wide, by 1.50 meter long by 4 millimeters thick. All plates are raised 12 centimeters high from the floor level, by 1800 steel springs.

Imagine walking on a 70 meters long, jelly mirror-like carpet. Each step taken on it produces local and global disturbances. In function of the direction and force of your steps and the weight of your body, the plate stepped upon bends and shakes, moves you, moves the neighboring plates, other visitors and distorts our perception of the abandoned blast furnaces of the Landscape Park.
